Cotavance ® paclitaxel - eluting balloon : review of preclinical and clinical study data Device evaluation

چکیده
Plain balloon angioplasty in femoropopliteal and below-the-knee arteries is currently associated with unacceptably high restenosis rates. Drug-eluting balloons are a promising novel technology for endovascular treatment of lower limb atherosclerotic disease. Among a variety of current commercially available devices, the Cotavance® Paclitaxel-coated Balloon Angioplasty Catheter is the device with the most extensive published clinical science. The purpose of this manuscript is to review preclinical and clinical data, as well as specificities of the Cotavance drug-eluting balloon.

Safety and efficacy of different paclitaxel-eluting balloons in a porcine model.
INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES Paclitaxel-eluting balloons have shown high antiproliferative efficacy in the treatment and prevention of restenosis. Nevertheless, not all available devices are equally effective, which makes it interesting to compare results in a preclinical model. Our objective was to assess the preclinical efficacy and safety of different devices. METHODS We implanted 51 metall...

Balloon angioplasty revolutionized coronary revascularization; however, elastic recoil and restenosis caused by cellular proliferation are major drawbacks of angioplasty. Intracoronary stenting, which could tackle dissections and eliminate elastic recoil, became the next mode of intervention but was limited by stent thrombosis and increased neointimal hyperplasia, leading to in-stent restenosis...
متن کاملOptimal Stent Expansion by Stent Balloon Multiple Inflation at Nominal Pressure in Resistant Lesions: A New Technique
Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of four-time inflation of the stent balloon at nominal pressure on optimal stent expansion in resistant lesions. Materials and Methods: This interventional study was conducted on 39 patients with coronary artery lesions, in whom Zotarolimus-eluting stents (N=20), Paclitaxel-eluting stents (N=11) and other stents (N=8) were deployed four tim...
متن کاملEfficacy of various percutaneous interventions for in-stent restenosis: comprehensive network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
BACKGROUND In-stent restenosis (ISR) remains a difficult problem in interventional cardiology. The relative efficacy and safety of available interventions is not clear. We aimed to perform a network meta-analysis using both direct evidence and indirect evidence to compare all available interventions. METHODS AND RESULTS We systematically searched electronic databases for randomized trials com...
